Latest Zynga News: YoVille NOT Closing on March 31st!

YoVillians get the news they have been waiting for!

Ever since Big Viking Games announced that it was in talks with Zynga, players have been praying that their beloved game would not close after all. After the initial announcements from both Big Viking Games and Zynga, everything went quiet. Many players got concerned but others were not overly surprised because many companies sign ‘non-disclosure’ contracts, prohibiting them from disclosing details of any deal until everything has been finalized.

Now, however, Zynga has broken its silence to announce that although things have not been sorted yet, it has decided not to close YoVille on March 31st after all.

This is what Ivory Ninja had to say in the Discussions forum earlier today:

Dear YoVille Players,

We want to thank you for your continued support of YoVille over the last 5 years. The outpouring of love you have showed for YoVille, and your dedication to the communities you have nurtured over the years in the game has inspired all of us at Zynga.

As some of you might know, we’ve had ongoing discussions with Big Viking Games, the original creators of YoVille, about ways we can work together to help keep the YoVille community alive. We are continuing to have those conversations and explore the future of YoVille and, as a result, will not be shutting down the game as planned on March 31.

We will have more updates to share with you soon, as our conversations with Big Viking Games progress and we determine next steps for the game, but we wanted to make sure you heard the news first as many of you have dedicated time over the last couple months to showing your support for YoVille and sharing your heartfelt stories about what the game means to you.

The Zynga Team

Now it is of course, still early days, and the two companies are still in talks about which direction the game will go in, but it is certainly an extremely positive statement, since it is highly unlikely that Zynga would keep the game open if there was little or no chance of saving it. As soon as we hear more, we will report on the matter.

In the meantime you can read the original post and respond to it here.
